LESSON 1- H
FRIENDSHIP AND ENMITY AMONG PLANETS
The examination of friendship or enmity among the planets in a chart is very essential to deduce accurate predictions. The information is as follows.
Sun – Moon, Mars and Jupiter are friends, Venus and Saturn are enemies, Mercury is neutral
Moon – Sun Jupiter and Mars are friends, no enemies, Mercury, Venus and Saturn are neutral
Mars – Sun, Moon and Jupiter are friends, Mercury is enemy, Venus and Saturn are neutral
Mercury – Sun and Venus are friends, Moon and Mars are enemies, Jupiter and Saturn are neutral
Jupiter – Sun and Moon are friends, Mars and Venus are enemies, Mercury and Saturn are neutral
Venus – Mercury and Saturn are friends, Sun and Moon are enemies, Mars and Jupiter are neutral
Saturn – Mercury and Venus are friends, Sun, Moon and Mars are enemies, Jupiter is neutral.
With regard to Rahu and Ketu, a principle exists in astrology that they give results of Saturn and Mars respectively.
We can observe that Moon has no enemies and Jupiter is not an enemy to anyone. In some other schools of thought, the above friendships and enmities may slightly differ. Learners may get confused with the above relationships. Though it is essential to remember the above combinations while giving predictions, an easy classification may be remembered by beginners, which is given below.
The nine planets are broadly divided into two groups. In first group, we have Sun, Moon, Mars, Jupiter and Ketu. In the second group, we have Mercury, Venus, Saturn and Rahu. The first group of planets has rivalry with the second group of planets. In other words, the first group of planets cause hardship to those who are born in the ascendants ruled by 2nd group of planets and vice-versa. Of course, we have several exceptions in the matter. This is only a broad classification, but for specific purposes, it is essential to follow, the accurate combinations of friendship and enmity stated above.
The planets give results in the above houses as follows.
The information about the own houses of the 7 planets has been given in lesson 1 – G.
In own house, the planets give best or good results. Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus and Saturn have lordships over two houses each and one out of the two houses is treated as Moolatrikona. (please refer lesson 1 – G). In Moolatrikona, the planet is more comfortable than in its ordinary house and gives better result than in ordinary house. In friendly house, they give moderate to good results. In neutral houses, they give normal results. In inimical houses, they give bad results. Affliction of planets by other planets and other combinations should also be taken into consideration. The planets give results as above during their vimsottari periods. The table of Vimsottari Dashas and Antardashas (Main and sub periods of planets) will be narrated in subsequent lessons.
