LESSON 2 B
After going through Pancha Maha Purusha Yogas, let us have a look at other yogas. As already told, about 1800 such yogas were mentioned under the caption Nabhasa Yogas. When two planets are positioned in the same house or angular houses, viz. 1,4,7 and 10 houses, the planets influence each other and is called yoga.
The following are some important yogas, which need to be examined frequently. Even the presence of yogas in the chart need not necessarily operate in individual’s life. Operation of yogas are based on various factors. Mainly, yogas give best results during the particular planetary periods. The best period in human’s life to derive the best results from these yogas are from 1 to 60 years of age group. This can be understood when we look into the charts of individuals. When these yogas operate in childhood i.e. below 15 years, since children don’t have independent life, parents can derive the benefits and the benefits are passed on to the children. This conclusion should be visualized logically in certain cases. In a very few cases, these yogas may operate at the age of 60 plus also.
At first, let us have a look at Moon based yogas i.e. conjunction of other planets with Moon in angular houses. Some prominent yogas are given below.
Gajakesari Yoga – Conjunction of Moon with Jupiter
Chandra Mangala Yoga – Conjunction of Moon with Mars (In some cases, if Mars is positioned in 10th house from Moon, he may prefer profession).
Anapha Yoga – Placement of any one of 5 starry planets (Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus or Saturn) in 12th house to Moon and 2nd house from Moon should be vacant.
Sunapha Yoga – Placement of any one of 5 starry planets in 2nd house to Moon and 12th house should be vacant.
Durdhura Yoga – Placement of most of the planets (or at least one each) in 2nd and 12th houses to Moon.
Adhi Yoga (Chandradhi yoga) – If more planets are positioned in 6th, 7th or 8th houses from the Moon, this yoga operates. If benefic planets are positioned, it is Subhadhi yoga and if malefic planets are positioned it is Papadhi Yoga.
Vasumathi Yoga – If more (benefic) planets are positioned in 3, 6, 10 and 11 houses from Moon, it is called Vasumathi yoga. If these planets are positioned from ascendant also, this yoga operates.
Kemadruma Yoga – If no planet is positioned on either side of the Moon and also in angular houses, Kemadruma yoga operates.
Some other yogas are also mentioned in old texts, but it is not clear whether the position of planets are to be considered either from ascendant or Moon. However, the above yogas may be considered as Moon-based yogas.
All the above yogas except Kemadruma yoga can bestow good health and wealth, respect in society, helps holding of higher positions in job, profession, business etc. Kemadruma yoga is stated to give bad and sorrowful results with an emphasis on causing monitory loss and poverty.
The following are Sun-based yogas.
Vesi Yoga – If any of 5 starry planets is positioned in 2nd from the Sun, this yoga operates. Obviously benefic planets give Subha vesi and malefic planets give Papa vesi yogas.
Vasi Yoga – If any of 5 starry planets is positioned in 12th house from the Sun, this yoga operates. Subha vasi from benefic planets and Papa vasi from malefic planets are derived.
Ubhayachari yoga – If planets are positioned on both sides to the Sun, this yoga operates. Prefixes Subha and Papa to this yoga respectively give good and bad results.
Budha-Aditya yoga – Conjunction of Mercury with Sun gives this yoga. More particularly, this conjunction should be either in own houses or exalted houses of Sun or Mercury. Hence, this yoga operates only in Aeries, Gemini, Leo and Virgo.
Other prominent yogas will be narrated from time to time.
